A Fine Morning Personal Comments Dr. Susan Adams, Emeritus Professor of English, Northern Kentucky University A Fine Morning: Stories of a Cincinnati Childhood is beautifully written, intensely felt, the story of a distinctly uncommon Cincinnati woman’s experiences. It is about the author’s coming of age intellectually, sexually, emotionally, about coming to terms with the writer in herself. Early relationships with family, friends, neighbors, teachers and co-workers are honesty probed and delicately examined to reveal the poetry, courage, sadness and beauty contained in our mundane dally lives. Don’t let the title mislead you: these stories contain insights into the mysteries of existence far beyond the confines of any one city or community. Valerie Chronis Bickett, teacher, author of My Name: A Memoir in Verse I love these stories. The language is unpretentious and exact--clear like a window I can see through. I also like the author, because the things she chooses to tell me are things I want to know: how those close to her--a famous writer, her great-grandmother, a friend from grade school--struggled to love themselves and others. I was sad to see the stories end.
